Tips For A Healthy Holiday Season

The holiday season can be a hard time for anyone trying to watch their waistline, with treats and sweets at every holiday party your healthy eating plan can be subject to sabotage. Utilize these helpful tips and tricks to help navigate any holiday event this coming season!!

1. Get Involved

If you are worried that you might not be able to find a healthy option at the next holiday party you attend, make sure to bring your own. By making and bringing your own healthy dish, you can guarantee at least one option that you know you’ll be able to eat guilt-free!

2. Come Prepared

If the holiday festivities are planned for the evening make sure to eat a protein and fiber-packed lunch and a small snack later in the afternoon to help avoid overeating.

3. Use the Buddy System

It can be helpful to have a buddy at the party who will be willing to split a dessert with you. This can save you half the number of calories and avoid excess food waste.

4.Watch Seasonal Drinks

Although tasty, holiday drinks can be loaded down with sugar and excess calories. Look for drinks with no added sugar and if you do find yourself reaching for some eggnog, watch portion sizes. One glass of eggnog can be full of sugar and saturated fats so try to limit your portion to just a few ounces.

5. Fit in Fitness

As we get busier during the holidays, we seem to let fitness fall by the wayside. Instead of skipping workouts, try to get a small walk or some light activity in to keep you on track.
