Five Ways To Avoid The Flu

No one wants to spend the last part of the Winter season with the flu. Avoid the box of tissues with these five ways to prevent this unwanted illness.

1) Get a flu shot

Our team always advises getting the flu vaccine before the season starts but getting the vaccine later is better than not getting it at all. Not only is it quick and easy, but a flu vaccine is the best way to prevent the flu.

2) Wash your hands

Hand-washing on a regular basis will protect you from germs that can cause the flu. The viruses that cause the flu are spread by droplets, usually when an infected person either coughs, sneezes, or talks. This causes the virus to become airborne and accessible to enter your body.

For instance, if you share a phone or computer keyboard with someone and end up putting your hands near your face, the virus can easily enter through your mouth our nose. By washing your hands often throughout the day, you can prevent this.

Eating a healthy diet can help avoid the flu.

3) Practice healthy habits

Anyone can protect themselves from illness in general by making exercise a part of their everyday routine, drinking plenty of water, and having a well-balanced diet. We also suggest wiping down surfaces at home and at work with disinfectant wipes.

4) Avoid others who are sick

Most of the flu viruses are spread through contact, sneezing, coughing, and talking. If you are around someone who is sick, try to avoid any contact with them.

If you end up waking up feeling sick, it’s best to stay home for not only yourself but also your coworkers.

5) Don’t touch your eyes, nose, or mouth

It’s almost impossible to completely rid yourself of the flu virus since it can live on any type of surface including doorknobs, phones, etc. To keep yourself safe, try to avoid contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth, especially if you haven’t washed your hands.
